Kaipara (Athletics Day)
On Tuesday and Wednesday we had Athletics Day. Our school sold Ice blocks and Ice creams to fundraise for a school in Samoa. One of our teachers went to Samoa for 1 year and she adventured around schools and around their island, so she wanted to fundraise some money for their school. At WBS we have high jump, long jump, ball throw and 50 - 200 meter sprints on Athletics Day. This year our Athletics Day went for 1 and a half days. Next week is Interschools Athletics and I am hoping my friends do well. Please leave a Comment and some Feedback about my learning.

Holiday Slow Write
These past couple of days Room 1 has been working on a specific Slow Write. This Slow Write is all about our 2 week holiday. We had to make a 10 sentence story. All sentences had to contain specific elements for example adverbs, " Woohoo" and many more. Please leave some feedback and comments about my learning.

A day out Farming:
“ Woohoo!" My heart warmed up as I realized it was sunny on a cold winter's day! It's finally here the
smell of the farm and taste of shepards pie. I could hear sheep baaing. Quickly I zipped to the fourwheeler.
" Am I allowed to ride the bike? I asked myself " Although the key was in and I predicted I could turn the
bike on, I still needed to ask. In my mind I could hear the sound of the motor, the touch of the
cu cushioned see the wheels turning as I sped away. Lets Crank it up... WAIT! Why is it not turning on?
Suddenly the motor changed to a loud beat. " BRMMM" Now it's time to feed the pigs!

Duathalon
LI: I am sharing some of my ideas, feelings and thoughts on my blog about the
Duathlon today!
Success Criteria:
|
- Running laps,
- Supportive friends and family,
- Accomplishing the 2 course Duathlon,
- Stretching before the duathlon starts,
- I felt tired and exhausted after my race
"Duathlon Day" I sighed. The Duathlon starts 9am sharp and my Brother is up second. We rushed around at home. Then I remembered I forgot my drink bottle just as we were at the corner of my Street. I didn't want to rush my Mum. Anyway we had no time to go back it was 8: 50. We got to school and lined up with our classes and went to the duathlon waiting area. We waited in year lines on blue tapolans. 20 minutes later and the year 5 boys have just been called so that means i am up next. My heart was pounding like never before. I set a goal. My goal was to beat my friend Kohine. " Year 6's " called Matua Ferogos. I got really nervous. As I was marching over to the starting line. I saw my Mum. She was cheering me on so much it made me much more nervous! We finally got ready, because lots of year 6 Girls were putting their feet over the line. Cheaters. " On your marks, Bang " I sprinted away and by time I was on my second lap I said to the girl beside me I regret sprinting at the start. But i think she was confused, because she didn't see me sprinting at the start anyway. Coming around on my 3rd lap I walked the hill. When I got up the hill I started jogging again until I got to the bike station. I was still thinking about my goal. 2 minutes later I was running across the grass and onto the road. I slowly lifted my bike over the bump and on to the reserve. All I could hear was panting, lots of panting. Biking on the bumpy grass was a bit of a challenge. I always went past the cone then turned the corner, so i didn't have to slow down. I did that 11 times. I hopped off my bike and crossed the road. Then I hopped back on again. I biked up the road and along the path then dropped my bike over in the transition. Coming through the gap and down the hill I ended my duathlon with 2 laps running. As I was running down the finish line I was thinking about my goal. My goal was to beat Kohine and guess what I did she was 2 people behind me. I was stunned. I've never beaten her before. I didn't come a placing but did accomplish my goal.

The 52 Storey Treehouse - Reading Wheel
In Room 1 we made a reading wheel about a novel. I write about the 52 Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths and illustrated by Terry Denton. This task included maths. Learning about degrees and sectors, what degree one sector had to be if a circle is 360 degree. To get the perfect degree's we used protractors. For the writing part of the reading wheel we used our knowledge from reading the books and recreated parts connected to the illustrations. We then illustrated a setting, a main character or characters and my favourite part of the book. We had to make 2 circles the first one we worked on was the base. The base is all the main writing and illustrations, then we created the cover which included drawings, the title, the illustrator of the book and the writer. I added lots of things that were in the story not just random things. While doing this task i also used the book just to remind me things that are in the story.

Welcome to my blog
Hi my name is Naomi, I am a 10 year old girl at Wainui Beach School, Gisborne, New Zealand. This is my first ever blog! My favourite sports are Netball and Dancing. I do dancing every Mondays and Wednesdays. I also do swimming lessons and piano lessons. Every Friday the school takes a group of Year 6's surfing. Adults / Parents come and help out both in the water and out. Surfing is so cool and every person that participates enjoys each programme. I am going to be sharing my learning tasks with you throughout 2018. Right now we are in week 2 of Term 1. We are learning to type on our chromebooks without looking at the keyboard. To improve my skills i have been using Typing Club its an online system on the internet that allows you to improve typing and reading skills.
